EEG stands for electroencephalogram, which is a non-invasive diagnostic test used to measure the electrical activity of the brain. An EEG recording measures the fluctuations of electrical activity in the brain.
During an EEG, the electrodes detect and record the electrical signals produced by the neurons in the brain. These signals are then amplified and recorded by a mobile, creating a visual representation of the brain's electrical activity.
EEG is a valuable tool for diagnosing a range of neurological conditions and disorders, including epilepsy, sleep disorders, and autism. It can also be used to study brain function during various activities, such as meditation or learning.
The test is safe, painless, and typically takes about 30-60 minutes to complete. It can be performed in a hospital, clinic setting or at Home with the FocusBand with training from a NeuroSelf Care Specialist. The results of an EEG can help parents & clinicians make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan tailored to the individual's specific needs.
